Nationally-known artist Amy Moglia Heuerman maintains a gallery and studio in the Naples, Fla.Design District in Naples’ downtown area, and another gallery and studio in Bay Harbor (Mich.), during the summer months. She expresses her broad vision in a range of styles that demonstrate her versatility, while all of her work is unmistakably hers. Her wingspan is expansive. She paints inspiring dynamic abstracts in the abstract expressionistic style, as well and impressionistic, abstract florals.
Her layered paintings invite a close look at embedded visual stories. Each painting, most acrylic on canvas with brush work and palette knives, is an exploration of a new adventure, an unwinding narrative as the artist moves to the finished expression. The viewer who looks closely will glimpse base colors peeking through and shadowy outlines of removed shapes – portals not entered and paths not taken. The viewer senses the story under the layers of paint.
Amy Moglia Heuerman says that she paints until she reaches a positive moment of the story.
Amy initially gained renown as an illustrator of children’s books, games, toys, and merchandise through her company, Bear Hug Designs. She retired the company after 20 successful years to pursue her passion for painting. Her career as an illustrator honed her mastery of composition and color, now richly conveyed in her vivid and layered paintings.
