Debuting June 8th on World Oceans Day, Underwater Worlds explores the mysteries of life beyond the shoreline.
MIAMI, June 7, 2023 — Hyde Midtown Miami is thrilled to announce Underwater Worlds, a brand new contemporary art exhibition inspired by the magnificence and mysteries of the ocean, and the fragility of Miami’s marine environments. Curated in partnership with Manolis Projects, South Florida’s largest fine arts gallery, Underwater Worlds will be unveiled on June 8th during World Oceans Day, with accompanying panel discussions and exclusive hotel experiences taking place throughout the summer.
Open daily to the public, Underwater Worlds showcases captivating works by local and internationally-acclaimed artists, including mesmerizing surf photography by Juan Lamarca, an award-winning photographer and director from Buenos Aires, Argentina; and gilded oceanic sculptures by Brazilian artist Hamilton Aguiar. A striking cobalt blue jellyfish dances across the canvas of J. Steven Manolis’ Jellyfish, speaking to the effects of water pollution on evolution, while Jill Krutick’s Beach Day submerges viewers in abstract impressionistic strokes of blue, reminiscent of Claude Monet’s Water Lilies series. Pop art lovers will especially take to Jojo Anavim’s Salty, a vibrant collage inspired by Roy Lichtenstein, glittered in diamond dust.
On July 13th, locals and travelers alike are invited to experience Underwater Worlds at Hyde Midtown with complimentary light bites and cocktails in the hotel’s David Rockwell-designed lobby lounge. The celebratory evening will also feature remarks by Manolis Projects’ founder, J. Steven Manolis, conversations with exhibition artists, raffle prizes and more.
The award-winning hotel will also host a series of Art Talks this summer with J. Steven Manolis, engaging community leaders and local artists with panel discussions around exhibition themes like environmentalism, artistic practice, and the transformative power of art to raise awareness around urgent climate issues.
All Underwater Worlds events are free and open to the public. Reservations are required as space is limited. Event schedules and reservations will be available online in July.
Hotel guests may also enjoy private, curator-led gallery tours of Manolis Projects in Little Haiti when they book Hyde Midtown’s (name of package) package. This exclusive experience includes complimentary champagne, complimentary luxury transportation in a Lincoln Town Car, and a Manolis Projects tote bag.
The Underwater Worlds exhibit at Hyde Midtown Miami is on view in the hotel lobby lounge seven days a week, from 9 a.m to 6 p.m. Open to the public, hotel guests and residents of Hyde Midtown. No reservations are required. Private exhibition tours are available upon request. For more information on Hyde Midtown Miami, visit ennismore.com/hotels/hyde/midtown-miami.
